Claro (formerly Smartcom, initially called Chilesat PCS) is a subsidiary of América Móvil, it is the fourth largest telecommunications operator in the world and the largest in Latin America. With a presence in 18 countries and more than 290 million mobile phone customers, it is controlled by Grupo Carso, whose majority shareholder is Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim. Claro Chile is one of the main telecommunications companies in the country, with around 6 million clients. It is a company that provides services that respond to the needs of residential customers, companies and large corporations, through fixed telephony, mobile solutions, the Internet, digital television, IT services and the Data Center.
