What is Base
Base, a subsidiary of Telenet, is one of the top three mobile telecommunications providers in Belgium. It competes with Orange Belgium and Proximus and has a market share of 26% in the mobile communications sector. The company was established in 1999 under the brand name KPN Orange, as a joint venture between Dutch KPN Mobile and British Orange telcos. Following the acquisition of Orange by France Télécom, KPN Mobile acquired the shares and rebranded the company to Base in 2002. In 2015, Telenet acquired Base from KPN. With a coverage of approximately 98% across the country, Base is a significant player in the Belgian telecom industry.
